Our Mission
Jordan Community Center (JCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitating and repurposing the historic South Carolina State Equalization School, Jordan Elementary School, into a vibrant, state-of-the-art community hub. Built in 1950 to educate Black students during the era of state-mandated segregation, the school stood as a symbol of resilience, hope, and educational advancement in the Jordan Community of Manning (Clarendon County).
Serving grades 1–8, the school was once the heart of community life before closing during school integration in 1970. Today, it represents an opportunity to preserve this important history while creating new pathways for future generations.
JCC’s vision is to transform the building into a fully operational community center offering educational enrichment, workforce development, health and wellness programs, youth mentorship, senior engagement, and cultural programming. By restoring this historic structure, we honor its legacy while meeting critical needs in our community.
